It seems that similarity often helps form a friendship. Aristotle once said, "Some define (給……下定義) it (friendship) as a matter of similarity; they say that we love those who are like ourselves." Now, there are some scientific explanations for this idea. The scientists from the University of California said friends have similar brains, Scientific American reported. The scientists invited 42 university students to take part in a scientific test. Each student watched the same set of videos. At the same time, the scientists scanned (掃描) their brains and recorded their brain activities. According to their study, friends who watched the same videos reacted (反應(yīng)) in similar ways. Similar parts of their brains lit up while watching the videos, especially the parts that were connected with motivation, learning and memory. However, people who werent friends had different reactions to the same videos. "Having close friends whose brains react like ours may be rewarding because it reinforces (加強(qiáng)) ones own values, opinions and interests," lead scientist Carolyn Parkinson told Business Insider. But brain similarity is not the only thing that can result in a friendship. Scientists from the University of Leipzig, Germany, found that a friendship is also based on how physically close you are to someone. They did a scientific test on first-year college students who met in class for the first time. In this test, students who sat next to each other were more likely to become friends. (1) According to Aristotles words, we can know that A . We love those who like us first. B . All friends have similar brains. C . Friends may be like each other. D . Good friends all have similar habits. (2) What does the underlined word "rewarding" mean? A . Good B . Difficult C . Easy D . meaningful (3) Which of the following can help form a friendship according to the passage? A . Being cheerful and popular. B . Being physically close. C . Living on the same street. D . Going to the same university. (4) What does the passage mainly tell us? A . How we pick our friends. B . Why we need friends. C . Whose brains are similar. D . Friendship means everything. 17. (5分) (2019九上蕭山開學(xué)考) 閱讀理解 People and dogs have been living together for hundreds of years. When did dogs and people become friends? Where did dogs come from? A group of scientists tried to answer these questions. They just finished a study about the history of dogs. In the study, they looked at the DNA of dogs all over the world and found that dogs, like humans, shared DNA with their family members. The scientists put together a big family tree for dogs. It went all the way back to the animals beginning. In this way, scientists learned about the history of dogs. The first dogs lived in Asia. They were born about 33,000 years ago. At first, there were only about 6,400 of them. Their parents were wolves(狼). The new study answers many questions. It raises some too. For example, what caused wolves in Asia to become dogs all those years ago? One idea is that their DNA slowly changed and the wolves became dogs in the end. As time goes by, dogs became "mans best friends" Or it could happen the other way around. It was possible that some wolves started living with people before they became dogs. Living with people led to many changes to these wolves. It changed their DNA, so their offspring(后代) became dogs. In other words, it was possible that wolves were our friends before they became dogs. By studying DNA, scientists now have a much better understanding of the history of dogs. ________. How exactly dogs came to be our friends is still unclear. (1) How did the scientists study the history of dogs? A . By living with dogs B . By studying the DNA of the dogs C . By studying all the animals D . By making friends with the dogs (2) Which of the following is TRUE about the first dogs? A . They lived in Africa B . They were born 6,400 years ago. C . Their parents were wolves D . There are about 33,000 dogs (3) What does the underline word "some" in Paragraph 4 refer to? A . Wolves B . Dogs C . Ideas D . Questions (4) Which of the following can be put in _________? A . However, there is still much to learn. B . But we still know little about wolves history C . Because weve learned about dogs friends. D . So they can explain when dogs became our friends. 18. (10分) 根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,回答下列問題。 Every year, during Chongyang Festival, citizens of China show their respect to the elders in their families and communities. Its a special tradition which is rooted in the deep value that Chinese culture places on honouring their elders. Sadly, many of our aging population are seniors without sons, daughters or grandchildren to visit. While they may have great friends, they no doubt miss the tender and loving relationships unique to families. To fill this void(空虛),many volunteers turned up at nursing homes around the country in order to spend time with the residents(居民). In some cases, they performed humble(謙遜的) gestures(表示) of kindness, such as combing their hair or washing their feet. While the kind acts were appreciated, one embarrassing story out of Anhui Province raised a valuable question. Reportedly, one old gentleman had his feet washed seven times during the day by different volunteers. Is this genuinely(真誠地) caring for the elderly? Many of the residents at the nursing home said that those gestures do not make them feel cared for at all. Their family members or community volunteers may drop by for a few hours of token(象征性) time, but soon they disappear back into their busy lives. There is nothing we can give that is more valuable or appreciated than our time. While you may feel like there is barely enough time to care for your many responsibilities, might it be possible to spare just a moment as you walk home from school to sit with a senior who lives in your community? Just five minutes is not going to prevent you from getting your homework done, but it may totally change a day of loneliness into a day of joy for one old man or woman. Do you live far from your grandparents? Why not pick up the phone and let them know youre thinking of them? Or maybe you could remind them of the "good old days" and mail them a short letter. Imagine their surprise and joy! We live in a complicated(復(fù)雜的) and busy world, but kindness and caring is still a very simple thing. (1) How many times did one old gentleman have his feet washed during the day? (不超過2個詞) (2) Which gesture can make the elders feel cared for?
