2019-2020年高中英語 Grammar and usage教案 牛津版選修10 Teaching Aims: 1. To guide the students how to find the topic sentence in the passage. 2. To guide the students how to conclude the main idea of a passage. Teaching Difficult Points; How to make students conclude the main idea of a passage Teaching Aids: the traditional ways (with the blackboard and chalk) Teaching Methods: In the ways of asking students questions and then the way of discussing, practicing etc. to strengthen the students’ knowledge and improve the students’ reading abilities. Current Situation: Because of the poor conditions in the rural area, most students ’reading abilities are not so good. They can’t find the topic sentence in a passage, and they don’t know how to get the main idea from the passage. So they can’t finish the exercise well because of their poor skills. Teaching Procedures: Step Ⅰ Greetings and Lead in 1.Greet the whole class as usual and wele the experts warmly. 2.T: “how can we get the main idea of a passage as quickly as we can?”. StepⅡ Guidance Skills: Look for the topic sentence(s) (1) at the first sentence / paragraph (2) at the last sentence/ paragraph (3) both at the beginning and at the end of a passage (4) in the middle of a passage Step Ⅲ Students’ practice and the teacher’s guidance 1) Let the students underline the topic sentences of Passages A-B in several minutes . Passage A: English is clearly an international language. It is spoken by pilots and airport control operators on all the airways of the world. Over 70 percent of the worlds radio programs are in English. The topic sentence:________________________________________________. Passage B: Life in 2035 will be different from what it is today. For one thing, you will sleep later because your job will start later in the morning. Too, machines will do most of your routine work for you. Also, you will travel to work on a moving sidewalk. Furthermore, you will talk to your friends on a picture telephone. Finally, you will take longer vacations in more distant places since transportation will be so much faster and cheaper. Certainly all of us can look forward to many new advantages in the ing 30 years. Step Ⅳ: Further Practising 1..Read the two paragraphs in Part A on page 25 and then check the answers with the whole class.
