4、 will learn to understand and use “What you would do?” Do you see the differences between them? The structure of a second conditional sentence Like a first conditional, a second conditional sentence consists of two clauses, an "if" clause and a main clause: if clause main clause If I had a mil
5、lion dollars, I would buy a big house. If the "if" clause comes first, a comma is usually used. If the "if" clause comes second, there is no need for a comma: main clause if clause I would buy a big house if I had a million dollars. We use different verb forms in each part of a second cond
6、itional: if clause if + subject + simple past verb* main clause subject + would + verb 1a Talking and adding We have heard sentences like: What will you do if you have a lot of money? This sentence is OK. It is right to say that way. But if we talk about imaginary situations, we can say: What
7、 would you do if you had a lot of money? Now add more ideas to the list on page 26. If I had a lot of money, I would give it to charity. If I had a lot of money, I would buy snacks. If I had a lot of money, I would give it to Hope Project. If I had a lot of money, I would buy books for the
8、poor. 1b Listening and numbering Now you are going to listen and number the pictures 1 to 3 on page 26 in the order you hear them. While listening, pay your attention to examples of “second conditional: should for advice” and useful expressions in it. Now read the tapescript on page 129 to underli
9、ne all the useful expressions and all the second conditional sentences.
